Nina, our resident Tai teacher, came into both classes to teach the students how to make paper flowers used in festivals in her country. We also celebrated her time with us as a school the Friday before vacation and Paul Hoeppner and Emma Bissonette were MC's for the Tai Fashion Show. Here are some pics and video links:

Presidential Ads
We spent some time looking at the current elections and seeing what President Obama and Mitt Romney were trying to target with their campaign ads. After doing so, we broke into groups and each group picked a person to run for President. These are their ads for President. They are unlisted on Youtube, so you need this link to see them, otherwise the average person can not view them.

Special Visit From Uganda
We were fortunate enough to have Mr. Frank Woitera, a teach from Uganda visit us on Friday. He's part of a foundation that was formed by a CVU grad, who wanted to make a difference in the world for his grad challenge. Last year we were able to Skype with Frank and some of the kids sponsored by the 52 Kid Foundation, so it was a real treat to get to meet him in person this year. Frank shared stories of his homeland and the kids he helps there. Later in the school year, we will once again have an opportunity to Skype with him and some of the children the foundation supports!! Here are some pictures of the visit:

Discovering the Periodic Table of Elements
Students in Ms. Galyean's homeroom worked with an app on their iPads that helped them discover things about the elements on the Periodic Table of Elements. They were able to build the elements to find what goes into making each one up. Here are some pics!
